WHAT IS AN EMBARGO?

An embargo is an industry standard practice that prevents people purchasing insurance coverage when risk is elevated or a natural disaster such as cyclone, flood or bushfire is imminent and then cancelling or decreasing the coverage after the risk passes.

 

WHAT HAS CHANGED?

Sure Insurance has now placed an embargo on certain areas. This means we will not be offering quotes or new policies for Home and/or Contents and Residential Strata Insurance in these locations or applying certain changes such as increasing the sum insured or reducing the policy excess for an existing policy until the risk from this weather event passes.
